Certified Yoga Instructor
Val has practiced yoga for 17 years and taught for 12. She was a personal trainer and competed in triathlons, mountain biking and body-building. She developed arthritis in her joints, plantar fasciitis, and suffered a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum in the other shoulder. She remembers the day she realized her physical routine needed to change. She was doing lunges and her knee “gave”. She put down the weights and turned to pilates and yoga. This was in May of 2015. Since then she moves towards things that make her feel healthy both inside and out.
She had no idea the impact yoga would make in her life. She is pursuing her 500-hour certification through Blue Lotus Yoga studio in Raleigh. “I am now growing into the heart and soul of yoga- pursuing questions of the infinite self and peeling away the layers of my outer self that don’t serve me. I begin each day with the intention to be un-rushed and am able to serve others by creating space for them to just BE and knowing their true and infinite self.”
