Michelle's Yoga Journey

When I walked through the doors of Sanford Yoga Center nearly 10 months ago, I was completely unaware of how my entire world was about to change! I’d like to say my journey began in December 2017, but in all reality it’s been life long. However, that December I realized I gained so much weight that I was having shortness of breath, and could barely tie my own shoes. None of my clothes fit anymore, and I was miserable in my own skin.

Like most people, my New Year’s Resolution was to start the gym, and lose the excess weight. See, we live in a society of obesity with obesity related diseases. Not only did I want to feel better with myself, but I also wanted to break the cycle for my daughter. I was able to not only execute my new resolution, but I was also blessed with great success!

It wasn’t until I started yoga at the Sanford Yoga Center that I began to notice a permanent shift in my life. I finally started to feel strong physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. When I arrived on my mat that first day, I felt lost and confused, and knew I needed a change. I’ve taken yoga classes here and there in the past, but never could I feel it in the depths of my soul as I began to feel at SYC. In fact, I shed many tears throughout these first classes because I could finally feel my transformation within. I dove into my practice hard and the results are starting to show! I have lived through domestic violence, a traumatic experience while active duty in the Navy, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Degenerative Disc Disease, a few surgeries, and Arthritis. Now I handle these things without any meds thanks to yoga! I want to extend sincere gratitude to the ladies at Sanford Yoga Center for their wonderful guidance and support through this process. After all, without you, my mat, and my practice, I don’t know where I’d be today!

Peace, Love, and Namaste!
